“It is time for Perth to catch up with Melbourne and Sydney”, said Irina Vasileva, the young Australian pianist who is the inspiration and organiser of Cappuccino Concerts.
As a recitalist, soloist, chamber musician and accompanist, Irina has participated in various festivals, international masterclasses and chamber music projects.
Trained in Moscow, Russia, than Ukraine and Australia (UWA), she is a dynamo who manages to both organise all the concerts, and perform in solo piano recitals and in concerts with other professional colleagues.
“The concept of informal, public based concerts of outstanding musical performances is not new. It had its origins in Paris and Vienna in the mid 19th century. Now in the 21st century it is well pass the time for Perth to catch up with the rest of the world”, she said. The State-Of-The-Art Grove Library building (1 Leake Street, Peppermint Grove) is a perfect venue that fulfils all of Cappuccino Concerts requirements: a wonderful acoustics, free parking and an informal setting with inhouse cafe.
Cappuccino Concerts group is very fortunate to be supported by The Grove Library's team, and to be sponsored by Zenith Music and Lamont’s who are helping them to bring the gift of classical music to a broader audience for the enjoyment of everyone.
The four Sunday afternoon chamber concerts throughout June will feature some of Australia’s most talented musicians and ensembles including the PURITY MALLET QUARTET with the program centered around marimba and vibraphone with a fair portion of Australian music, Cappuccino Concerts Music Director, pianist Irina Vasileva with WASO’s cellist Louise McKay and violinist Kylie Liang. Internationally acclaimed Australian classical guitarist Jonathan Paget is also performing, presenting an eclectic musical journey through Spain and Latin America.
The “Grove Classics 2013’ Grand Finale program includes works by Chopin, Popper, Romberg, Frescobaldi, performed by a wonderful DUO: WASO's Associate Principal Cello Louise McKay and Head of Piano Studies, WAAPA Anna Sleptsova.
“The intention is to showcase the best classical music has to offer in the areas of instrumental and chamber concerts and to bring such music to a more diverse and younger audience.”
“Come along to the Grove Centre on every Sunday in June” said Irina “ You will have an unforgettable experience and our concerts will become a regular feature of your life”.
